Tempting, tremendous, tasty – there aren’t enough words to describe this tubby root, a favourite ingredient around the world from China to the Caribbean, Hawaii to Indonesia. Christopher’s new recipes will take you on a tour of the taroverse!
Menu

1. Super Wu Tau Koh
A deluxe version of the Cantonese staple. Taro, lup cheong, sakura ebi and spring onions, mixed with the barest minimum of batter and steamed into a plush and velvety savoury cake full of taro fragrance.

2. Braised ‘Tarobalone’ with Mushrooms
Taro transformed into toothsome, bouncy pillows – think abacus beads, but shaped to resemble baby abalone – cooked with assorted fresh mushrooms and vegetables into a hearty main dish.

3. Taro Hash Browns
A mouthwatering melange of shredded taro, tofu, chai poh, coriander and peanuts, pan-fried into crisp brown patties. Ideal for brunch or a hearty breakfast.

4.  Fan Sha Taro with Shallot Gomashio
Teochew-style taro ‘home fries’, creamy-centred with a sandy sugar crust, tossed with crispy shallot and toasted sesame salt, and fresh coriander. No deep-frying needed – an air-fryer or oven dish.
