The pairing of soft cake with crunchy crumble is a match made in heaven, especially when you’re looking for a divine addition to a celebratory dessert spread! Christopher’s recipes show you how to take simple and soulful cakes to another level by adding crumble toppings in matching flavours.

1. Pumpkin Spice Sugee Cake with Pecan Crumble
Golden sugee cake laced with pumpkin puree and a dash of warm spices, showered with a buttery pecan crumble mixture. Mellow and very more-ish.
2. Chocolate Date Cake with Tahini Crumble
Date molasses and Valrhona cocoa powder make this cake dark, mellow and moist – but not too sweet! A tahini (sesame paste) crumble is sprinkled on top for a rich finish. An unexpected but uncommonly excellent combination of flavours.
3. Fresh Apple & Cider Cake with Cheese Crumble
Plushly laden with juicy apples and a splash of apple cider, this German-style cake has a top layer of streusel (the German name for crumble) flavoured with grated cheese, a classic partner for apples, and bakes up into a golden and savoury counterpoint.
