Traditionally made and enjoyed by families in lead-up to the Dragon Boat Festival on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar, bamboo-wrapped rice dumplings filled with a mouthwatering mix of ingredients are an iconic heritage food. Join Nyonya Su Pei for a hands-on masterclass during which she will impart all the essential techniques and tips she has mastered over years of making chang. You will learn:

- how to make a classic Hokkien-style bak chang recipe, stuffed with pork belly, chestnuts, mushrooms, salted egg and other ingredients

- how to select and handle bamboo leaves and reeds

- how to marinate and prepare the filling ingredients

- how to soak and season the glutinous rice for the right texture

- how to wrap and tie the dumplings

- how to cook, store and reheat bak chang

 Maximum of 20 participants.
