We usually celebrate Chinese New Year by indulging in our favourite comfort foods – however, the food need not be usual and same-same! Put a different spin on your celebration spread with Christopher’s original festive recipes.

1. Bak Kwa

Why spend hours queuing up when you can make succulent and flavourful minced pork bak kwa at home? This classic-style meat jerky is free from artificial additives and flavour enhancers and a cinch to whip up.

2. Cabbage & Bak Kwa Koh

You’ve probably had lor pak koh (white radish rice cake) and wu tau koh (taro rice cake), but did you know that cabbage koh is another tradtional Hong Kong Cantonese specialty? This version is packed with white cabbage, dried shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, and instead of lup cheong, bak kwa provides some meaty sweetness. This can be served up freshly steamed and velvety soft, or fried up with a fragrant sesame seed crust.

3. Satay Pork Floss Cookies

All the flavours of pork satay with pineapple-spiked peanut sauce – but in a cookie! Lemongrass, lime leaf, chilli and other spices join forces with pork floss and candied pineapple to make a crumbly, aromatic and unforgettably more-ish cookie.
