As the year nears its close, it’s always good to have reliable recipes on hand to bake up treats for your own table or to give away as gifts. These comforting and substantial loaf cakes embody festive cheer and (literally!) fruitfulness.

Menu

1. Steamed Fruit Cake (Kek Kukus Buah)

A favourite local version of European-style fruitcake, packed with figs, apples, apricots, raisins and citrus, and slow-steamed until super-moist and aromatic. An easy recipe which can be made with or without alcohol, as you please.

2. Sticky Date Toffee Pudding

Christopher’s rendition of this English classic cuts back on the sugar and amps up the dates for a luscious pudding-slash-cake loaded with caramelly character. Served with a caramel sauce made with date molasses, for extra oomph!

3. Quarkstollen

Lighter and softer than the marzipan-filled stollen loaves widely sold at Christmas, this equally authentic German recipe is also much simpler to make. Rich with cream cheese and sour cream, its tender crumb is flavoured with a hint of rum and vanilla and studded with candied peel, almonds and golden raisins.

Take Home Items

Onsite participants will bring home a set of food samples. ZOOM participants WITH food samples can opt for self-collection or delivery at no extra cost.
