Thai and Vietnamese cuisine have so much in common but at the same time are distinctly unique in flavors and cooking techniques. In this class, we will glean the best of both cuisines from Chef Shih Erh who will present to us 3 dishes of restaurant standard, yet so achievable at home.


1. Three Flavored Sauce Deep Fried Fish (Pla Som Rot)

The sweet, sour and tangy spicy sauce pack a real punch in this authentic Thai dish. The sauce is poured over a crispy and succulent deep fried fish, making this dish absolutely mouth-watering. Chef Shih Erh will show you how to perfectly execute this dish with no fuss in your own kitchen.

2. Salted Egg Yolk Ball 

This very special item is so forgotten that you can hardly find any information on it. Chef Shih Erh remembers this fondly as one of the best selling items in her family restaurant. Hand-made meticulously with a salted egg yolk middle encased in a layer of marinated minced pork and shrimps, then wrapped with an outer layer of noodles and finally deep fried to perfection. It's certainly hard to resist this asian 'scotch egg'. 

3. Bun Cha

A multi-component Vietnamese dish of grilled minced pork and pork slices, served with fresh rice vermicelli, fresh herbs, pickled vegetables, a special homemade appetite whetting dipping sauce and extra side condiments. If you want to taste an authentic traditional version of this dish, this must be it!

Take Home Items

Participants will take home a recipe pack and a takeaway portion sample all the food items. Zoom participants can collect onsite or arrange for delivery at a small charge.
