The time of year is fast approaching when party occasions call for sweet festive treats – and what could be more lavishly celebratory than a large and decadent chocolate cake? Satisfy the chocoholics around your dining table with Christopher’s new recipes.

1. Chocolate Matcha Tree Trunk Cake

Stuffed to the brim with roast turkey and just can’t manage a slice of Christmas log? Try this lighter, buttercream-free alternative – airy green tea and cocoa chiffon cake layers sandwiched with bittersweet chocolate ganache, a full-flavoured yet delicate dessert.

2. Steamy Chocolate Midnight

Named for its deep, dark hue, and also because it may provoke you to secretly steal the leftovers for yourself after everyone’s gone to bed. Mixed like a muffin and steamed like a pudding, this treat melts in the mouth almost like a rich chocolate mousse.

3. Chocolate Malted Marble Cake

A lusciously velvety, tender-crumbed pound cake that marries hot chocolate and Horlicks in the best possible way. A great staple for brunch, potlucks or snacking.
